The Promise
In February 1994, Sally returned to central Bosnia to help the children of Nova Bila, a Croat enclave surrounded by enemy forces.
Some of the children had been on an evacuation list for months and when Sally asked the UN if they had any plans to bring them out, the answer was no. Vehicles were grounded due to snow so she went in by helicopter and brought the twenty eight wounded children and their families to safety.
